Exploring Second Life in
Education
Second Life is a multi-user virtual environment (MUVE) in which
users create avatars and interact in a 3D world. Many educators
are exploring the use of Second Life in order to create engaging
learning interactions for students. Learners can visit ancient worlds,
explore their identities, participate in simulations, and interact
with students in different geographical locations, all within Second
Life.

While the possibilties of teaching in Second Life
are exciting, the initial learning curve can be steep. Second
Life Basics provides tutorials

in-world practice. There is a practice
section that provides some fun activities you can try to test your
new skills in Second Life and re-use in your own classroom. Also,
